Blistering run secures victory for Britta Martin in WA Ironman

Tineli sponsored triathlete Britta Martin followed up her recent success at the Port Macquarie Ironman 70.3 by winning the Ironman Western Australia on Sunday December 9th.

Needing to make up an eight minute deficit after the swim, Britta reduced that by half with a strong 5hr 11sec time for the 180km bike leg, the second fastest time.  She then produced the best time of the day on the run overtaking multi-ironman winner Rebekah Keat of Australia just 3km from the end of the Ironman to win in 9hrs 13minutes from Keat by 1min 49secs.

Martin said her running form surprised her.

"I can't believe how strong I felt in the final stage of the race. Personally I didn't think I would get through today but when I had 10km to go, I took my boyfriend's advice and just went hard".
